luv my ride..6 yrs now / coupla issues: riding along at constant speed & rpm I'm feeling
a 'chugging' or 'oscillating' feel to the bike / chain is tite - also, intermittent 'no start' situation
/ new battery & volt reg...sometimes a 'click' sound from solenoid area / will jump start...
any hints appreciated!
It would be helpful to know what your bike is. The intermitten click but no start problem sounds like a starter sylenoid or relay. Assuming of course that your battery is at full charge. Depending on the model of your bike, next time it does that lay a screwdriver across the 2 large brass lugs on the end of the sylenoid. If the starter engages, that is your problem. If not, then check out the starter relay.
If the problem is the battery not up to 12 volts and you have replaced the battery and regulator, then you need to test the alternator output.
The 'oscillating' at steady speeds could be a few things. Primary chain is a great place to start. Next check your drive chain for tight spots. If that is OK then lift your bike and spin each wheel. Check to make sure you dont have a bent rim or such. If all checks out OK then you may want to secure the bike with the rear wheel off the ground and run the bike. Make sure you got a buddy close to shut it down if things get outta hand while you scope things out.
Good luck with that!!!!
Jack it up, shift to neutral and give the rear wheel a spin. If the chain is stretched in one spot (really common) it will do that. You will easily be able to see the chain go tight-loose-tight-loose as the wheel turns.
