Default frame is bent):

so here is whats going on.. bought a 64 duo glide and 51 hydra glide. 64 was assembled. 51 is not. these questions are regarding the 1964 panhead duoglide. i dis-assembled it to just go ground up with it the way i wanted and this is what i came across.. the frame is bent. or different. or has been f****d with. the first two pics are of the axle which would go through the swing arm and when in all the way, it does not fit flush. it can not thread in all the way as the pictures show.. the remaining two pictures are of the frame without the swing arm looking at it from the rear. as shown in the pics.. the frame looks bent or different. maybe the dimensions i'm looking at are for a different year duoglide? the manual and bike has kinda been hacked from previous owner): the left side from a rear view is straight as the right seems bowed or bent out. but in diagram of dimensions both sides in the picture are bent out.. but my bottom dimensions are off by at least an inch.. where the swing arm axle goes through the frame that as well must be off.. but not by much. but if the left side was bowed out and not straight then the axle would definitely not fit. im scratching my head on this. im 21 years old and new to the panhead life.. if someone.. anyone.. could throw me some advice or help i would appreciate it! along with if it was to be bent.. ways to go about fixing it. i would assume heating it and bending it back or whacking it back. but do not wanna lose strength of the frame. (who knows if it even is bent) like i said maybe wrong diagram for another year. thanks for the help.

You don't say where you live but first thing I would do is find a frame guy in the area where you live that has some knowledge of HDs. Have him put it in a frame jig. That will tell you instantly if the frame is tweaked.

Went and looked at my 65 and my swingarm pivot bolt is just a tad shy of coming through the other side; yours is definitely recessed more than mine.

the swingarm bolt could be an oversize thread that was not installed all the way in

the swingarm threads strip out on the early bike frames and an oversize threaded bolt is used to fix it - all the correct parts need to be installed in the swingarm and the correct spacers used, and then tightened to see if it loads the swingarm correctly before you go off and spend money on maybe its a bent idea

not many seen this its in the wrong spot BTW - needs to be in panhead not classic question

it ended up being a 58 or early 59 frame.. so forget the idea of a full restoration hahaha. but it was stripped on the frame so picked up a new swing arm bolt (which was a bit longer explaining the fitting issue and going to re-thread the frame) thanks for the help boys! and thought the classic was just a majority thread of all pans, knucks, flats, shovels etc. now i know for next time.

Glad you got it figured out. FYI, take a look at the top motor mount. There should be a letter and number that will tell you the year of the frame

can't look at mine for a reference since it's a hardtail, but your 9 inch measurement detailed in pic 4 might need looked at again. The factory measurement points are not made from outside-to-outside. You might not be out as far as you think
