Does anyone recognize this frame.. No title but we do have the MSO for the motor.. It's a 99 OEM crate engine.. Can one register a bike with just an MSO?
A good friend of mines cousin past not too long ago and in his garage in NW Pennsylvania are a lot of Harley parts that are coming home.. Were pretty sure we have all the parts to make it a runner and should be a nice project..Hopefully by next spring we'll have it on the road.. Any info on the frame would be appreciated, there is nothing on the frame to identify it by.. Here's some pics.. Thanks...
The frame will at some point need a Number put on it. Each state has their own rules. It will likely require an inspection and paper work to show parts were purchased not stolen.
First stop should be you DOT before putting any money in it.
What does the MSO (Manufacturer's Statement of Origin) say ??? Every new frame should come with one. You will also need one for the transmission, and the engine. Keep all sales receipts for parts and accessories. The state you register it in may want to see that sales taxes are paid in full. Like post # 2 says, you may want to consult with your DMV first.

No paperwork on the frame or transmission.. The motor came out of a Harley dealer in Maine at least that's what the MSO says other than that I'm not sure.. I'm going to find out what the laws are in Maine and see if we can get it registered there.. I know down here on the island when we register a trailers we usually register them up in Maine.. This is so much ****ing cheaper and easier there.. Any clue on the manufacturer of the frame??
Geta new one. Frames are under 1000 bucks and you will get an MSO. The frame you order will determine a lot of how your bike looks. Neck rake, Gas tank mounts, Oil tank, fork tube length, seat style, rear brakes, axle configuration etc...take your time and do it right. That frame looks like it has an offset for a wide rear tire and mounts for a solo seat.

Somebody took an off the shelf aftermarket like Paughco and got busy with it. Turn up with a bill of sale for it and check your states rules & requirements for a special construction title. Most want MSO's or at least bills of sale on the major parts, or a statement the frames hand made not a supplier part. They are going to issue blue tags for the motor & frame anyway.
I've done a couple both in Missouri and Ca. before they changed the rules out here.
