Default 250 big enough

For all of you who have built customs out there, I am told that a 300 frame will cost me twice as much to buy wheels as a 250 frame. Is 250 big enough. Also on a 250 frame what is the widest actuall tire you can put on? 250? 260? 280?

I had a bike with a 240 and thought it was big enough. I now have a bike with a 280 and I think it is big enough. really can't see going bigger then the 280, but thats just me.

But on a 250 frame can you go to a 280 tire?

What size rims should I be looking at, I am going with a pro-street setup

most people agree that bigger then a 250 requires RSD.

I love my 250! It all depends what kind of look you want. I have a very small fender exposing most of the rear tire. The tire looks big.............

Above 240/250 it looks like your trying to prove something. Also it takes away from the rest of the bike. It becomes the focal point.

I was just at a show this past weekend, now I built my first bike about 7 or 8 years ago and thought I was a trend setter going with a 230 rear tire.

Then of course the 240's, and up started coming out. I had a chance to see what a 360 or something like that looks like on a bike at this show......I don't like em.

Whoever said that the tire takes over the bike is 100% correct! The only comment I heard, and there were allot of people checking out the big tire bikes was, "I can't believe how big that tire is".

Most of these monster tires were on Pro-Street frames......some ran a jack shaft set up, some had huge spacers on the tranny....not a good look so far as I'm concerned, and I love big tires.

newest trend is to go with a taller rim. big dog pitbull now has 23" front and 20" rear.
