I am looking for a solution to a stiff clutch. I was looking into a hydraulic clutch setup for my 92 softail. Any feedback? Is this a good idea? Are there some I should stay away from? I noticed Ebay had a few, but how do you know if they are any good....or relieve some of the effort?

go with a Mueller power clutch. quicker, easier, cheaper then converting to hydraulic. I was surprised to see that the newer model American Ironhorses with hydraulic clutches were not much, if any, less effort then the cable clutches. Seems like with master cylinder/line pressure reduced effort would have been easy to build in.
Have you looked into the kits that lessen the pull changing the leverage? White Bros.Easy lite cuts the effort 40% a lot less expensive than hydraulic.
Interesting. I thought for sure a hydraulic clutch was the way to go. Just seems a mechanical cable would still be stiffer than the multiplication factor hydraulics can accomplish. I guess for the money an EZ pull kit is worth a try.
Thanks
1 of my bikes has a Barnett Scorpion clutch with all Red springs (most tension) trying to hold back 180+ lb ft in a RK.The White Bros is just what I was looking for.Go to a dealer and try out the different clutch releases on used bikes to get an idea of the feel
I have no idea what it has for a clutch. I know it is stiffer than any other bike Ive owned. The motor is supposed to have 118hp and 134ft lbs torque, so I image there is more clutch there than stock. I will look into your suggestion.
tech folks at barnett told me the white bros ez pull does not give you complete clutch travel and they recommended the Mueller type power clutch that changes the ramp angles, but still gives full travel. WWIW if have used the ez pull on a few bikes and it does seem to help, although finding neutral while stopped is harder (probably not getting the full release they talked about). in the future I'd probably try the Mueller type. its about $135 compared to the ez pull at $25, but if the other is better its probably worth the cost difference.
I can certainly argue that point, since I have 2 bikes both with Barnett Scorpion clutches, and each with the White Bros Easy Lite. Both work better than stock.Fact! the second you pull the lever the clutches release!.What more do you need?
just telling you what Barnett's tech people told me.

Barnett's teflon lined clutch cables are smooth as silk and help with the pull effort also.
