Default Where are you Hot Rodders?

It has been a very rainy season for us so far.A lot of the summer activities have been washed out.The 155" has had very little use so far.Having everyother weekend off does cramp a persons style.Thinking about one more change, the R&R modified PSI flat slide carb. The bike is holding up well, the rear tire has done a good job surviving the breakin phase. It will need replacing next season, the torque this motor developes, is hard on the tire everytime I leave the driveway.Dog

Actually Traveler, the weak link is the tire,it breaks loose long before any damage can occur. The trans has been Zippers modified, the primary has a hydraulic tensioner, the rear belt is 1 1/2" Kevlar. The bike scrubbed off a lot of rubber figuring out the best way to launch the bike.First, and second gear are the ones that needed the attention.Once rolling at a decent speed, whacking the throttle with the tire hooked, is hard to describe the rate of acceleration. The desire to scream Yee Haa!!! is overwhelming. It does launch hard from a standstill, just had to learn where the breaking point was. What about the rest of you horsepower junkies.Lets hear from you too!!!Dog

Nah....don't be too humble. A 100 cubic inch EVO is a VERY stout setup.

In addition to my 2 bikes, I have a supercharged mustang that's putting 402 Rear wheel horsepower and 396 rear wheel torque down. I have alot of $$$ in that deal.

Bike wise, my DYNA is still at 88 cubes, but I have done quiite a bit of work to it.

If I ever build another bike, I might go with a big motor.....hard to say, as I am a BIG buff of reliability.

You said it Traveler,a hot rodded Twin in any cubes is what I want to talk about. Those of us that fool around with modified engines are all in the same league. We can help each other solving problems.Over the years My love for drag racing and hot rodding Harleys started with a Panhead, then ShovelHead, now have an Evo and TwinCam.they all work pretty much the same way.You just have to know where you want your power and don't lose sight of it.Trust me I have tried everything, now all my bikes do exactly what I want them to do and instantly. Finally I love all hotrodded Harleys, especially the big cammed quick spinning stock cubed bikes. My passion is big cubes.Dog

With my DYNA, I left her at 88 cubes, but converted over to Gear driven cams, and went with S&S 510G cams. While in the cam chest, I upgraded to TIMKEN bearings instead of roller bearings, and used Screamin Eagle chromoly adjustable pushrods. On the primary side, I went with a HB 125 automatic primary chain adjsuter, which is a hydralic piston deal and the Screamin Eagle Gear Down Kit, which basically means the front motor sprcket is 4 TEETH smaller, so it revs QUICK! I wanted to keep the exhaust head tubes, as I wanted the crossover to let each cylinder help each other out in scavenging the exhaust out. S&S mufflers are a true performance muffler, and when you hold them up and look through them it's like looking through an old glasspack muffler, so I went with those. Intake? Arlen Ness Big Sucka with a cover I bought from Jireh Cycles for 20 bucks. Because I am Fuel Injected, I started with the Factory Stage I download which bumped the timing up, raised the redline, and adjusted A/F ratio. Then later I added a Power Commander PC III USB setup, which works with this download, and I have her set at 13.7 A/F ratio all the way across the board.

The cams come on around 3,000-3500 RPM. The primary gear down kit puts me at 3,000-3500 RPM at 70 MPH, so, basically, at 70, if you whack the throttle, you are in the sweet spot, and she really moves out!

Now, this is nothing compared to what you have, but at 88 with stock heads, she really moves.

Joe, that is exactly what I am talking about. You are a hot rodder, and it sounds to me like you are dailed in.Once on a 93" shovel, I stuck an 18 tooth motor sprocket, and it was insane. It actually hurt to try and take off in 1st gear,it was taken off the same day.The bottom line is to find the right combination and have fun.Mike aka Dog

All I know, is that my front motor sprocket went from 25 teeth to 21 teeth, and if I were to try and run that on say, a TC124, I think all I would have would be wheelspin, or a sore back, becasue I would be laying on it in the middle of the road

That S&S 124 Hot Setup sounds like a killer way to go, but then what about reliability?

How about a 93 cube shovel (cone case) all cammed up with an SU carb and some good pipes?
