Default Thunder Mountain (Keystone)

I'm lookin at an 07 Thunder Mountain (Keystone). It has a 300 rear tire and has a 44 degree rake. Also has a right side drive (Baker 6 speed). I was just woundering how this bike will handle? I ride a couple hundred miles locally on weekends and go to a couple local bike nights during the week. This bike is very sweeeet and I'v fallen in love.....
Working on a trade deal with the local dealer. Any thoughts? Pro or con.....

Sorry, can't comment on the Thunder Mountain. But if your "trade deal" involves the bike in your sig, I would say that is a HUGE con. That bike is waaaay more awesome than any Thunder Mountain, imo.

Man, I'm going to hate having to see that thing go!

But I saw that these bikes have a 120.3 cubic inch motor (1,971 cc), but has a compression ratio of 8:6:1? That doesn't sound right, or does it?

This is the bike your talking about, right?

Man, I'd definitely take your bike over those, and just throw on a huge tire on the back of yours with that heartland kit..

That might just be a misprint, the engine is a 103 Screaming Eagle. What I like about these choppers is that they are about 80% HD. HD engine, wiring harness, contols, switches, brake system. ect.

kiss turning good bye... what i mean is your 300 will give you roll on the turns, they are a bit of a struggle at times (slow speeds) but still looks cool as hell... neither are hard tails so ride should still be pretty good.. and eliminate some of the flop... as the bikes rake is not that crazy... but honestly... to me the two i just saw on the links above look like very comercial choppers... your bike now is much more of an eye catcher and original... if you want a chop buy a kit and build it, then you can add your own flavor to it... i can see by your bike you have an eye for a build... may want to run wiht that... but the ride will seem alot like that of a rice burner car, little pogo, feel alot of the road... but that is cause the rake and you are so low

I ride with crotch rockets on my 2008 Big Bear Venom pro street all the time, and they don't leave me in the dust. It is no cafe racer, but you don't need 3 football fields to turn it around either. When I know someone taking the MSF course at Boswell's in Nashville, I ride my chopper in and do figure 8's in their 20 foot box without touching a toe. After that a 550 Buell for the test is a breeze and confidence builder for them. I do admit that any wider than a 250mm back tire starts to give up handling quickly. That right side drive is a big plus for low speed balance.
Three questions:
Surely those specs are wrong stating a 25" seat height.
That must be a wide *** tank to get 5 gallons in it.
Being a 2007 model, it is now two years old ($10K off is not a steal).
At 690 pounds what did they build it out of.... cast iron???
But it is a great looking bike.

If I had the cash thats the chopper I would buy. As you said 80% HD. Reliability plus the 103 motor. Not the fastest chopper but I love the looks and detail. I 've ridden a 300 tire bike and they definately need a bit of room turning. Turns need to be planned and leaning forced.

What dealer you looking at ? Brian's HD.

mulch63, I got cold feet with the Thunder Mountain. I ended up buying a RockerC.
I really enjoy buying a scooter and customizing it and making it "my own" if ya know what I mean. That was a really nice scooter, but there was not much you could do with it as far as customizing. Also wasn't to sure of that 300 and the 44* rake with the type of riding that I do. Nuff said.....

Well, as much as you made your deluxe look amazing, I'm sure you'll do the same with your rocker. Can't wait to see what you turn that ride into. Just make sure you get that heartland seat kit to get rid of that ugly stock seat and gap! Post up some pics of your ride brotha!
