Not a big fan of the Thunder Mountain bikes. A good partner of mine bought a Keystone on March 13, about 6 weeks ago. He left the dealer, rode 9 miles and the transmission took a crap on him. Tranny had to be replaced. Got the bike back a week later, rode it about 15 miles and the front wheel bearing started squealing like a pig. Took it back to the dealer. They replaced the bearing. 100 miles later the front wheel bearing seized causing my partner to go down. Bike was totalled. He came out of it banged up but ok. Replaced it with another Thunder mountain Keystone a week ago. Bike is now in the shop with another transmission gone. Gonna be 2 weeks before they get the parts from Colorado to fix it. As far as I`m concerned the Thunder mountain bikes are junk....
Oh yeah, this guy has been riding since the 60`s and knows what he is doing. No operator error. All mechanical failure.....

WOW, Glad to hear your buddy is doing good. I thought the T-Mountains used HD drive trains. Two failed units is unheard of unless some install issues by T-mountain. The bearings though must be some low rate Chinese bearings with plastic races.

The first bike had the 103" motor, the second has the 110". Both bikes had Baker 6 Speeds with right side drives. I would have thought better of the tranny but the evidence speaks for itself..... Needless to say, my partner ain`t real happy right now....

Don't want to bash any bikes but man I love the Chopper look and wanted one but those bikes just seem to be undependable. Also the prices of most of the choppers are crazy. Almost traded my bike a couple times but the guys always acted like their bikes were these awesome expensive machines.
i bet you really dig the rocker c. they are harleys chopper. and you can go to any harley dealer and get parts for it. a real bonus i think. i still am lusting over a big dog chopper, 05-06 era, cause of the way they're built, etc. but after just sitting on the rocker, they actually are very cool feeling, and they look sweet too. more practical if you 're gonna be putting miles on it. good for you. especially like the blue rocker c's
the rocker seems to be a more logical choice. there is a kit that you can use to raise the front of the gas tank up a couple or three inches so it doesn't look so dorky. with the tank raised, the lines flow much better. i was thinking about a big dog, as i really like the older, like 05-06 models, but you can't just go to harley and get parts. if you got a rocker c, you could go to any harley dealership and get or order anything you'd ever want for it. and the rocker is like ten grand cheaper than the big dog. that's probably what i'll end up getting when i get a few things paid off. just makes sense, to have a big factorys backing, and with a danny gray seat, they are really sleek too.
