there is an original battery box that she sez has to be on the bike and even with drilling new mounting holes and dropping it down on top of motor i can still only cut about an inch off of seat post.
maybe if I can talk her into mounting it forward and more under the rear of the tank on the top/front motor mount?? going to have to do what ever we can to get it as low as possible cuz she's only 4'11'' tall
Do whatever you have to ......convince her that the battery box is UGLY as hell and must go......If it's the badge that she is so crazy about...that can be managed somewhere...but that box is really fugly in all honesty.

I like your wife's esthetics, she has style... is she married - lol
I really dig that box too. it has some charm that you won't easily replace
with an angle grinder and welder. I can see where it would be a lot easier to
find a simple replacement, but I think the reward for taking the time to fit
it into the build will make you a prince among men.
Dumb idea but is there anyway to flip it to the other side for more space?

Another dumb idea, can you fit a sealed AGM from someone like Odysey
in there so that angling it is an option?

getting rid of the battery box is not an option, she plans to have everyone who helped with the build sign their name on it (welding, paint, powder coat, motor rebuild and any fab that is above my expertise)

the right side wont work cuz the pipe goes right through that area.
I'm making the assumption that you have a normal lead acid battery in there.
The kind with the fill holes on the top that will leak acid if you tip the battery
too far on it's side.
AGM stands for "absorptive gas mat". It's a lead acid battery that's spill
proof and low maintaince. HD is using these on all of their new bikes, but you're
bike is a couple few years too old for that technology to have been stock http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Agm_battery
With an AGM battery you can lay it on any side except for the top or at any
angle and not worry about any leaks.
Odyssey makes some very small package high power AGM batteries. They're a
little spendy but for the size they're very hard to beat. http://www.odysseybatteries.com/

I'll have to look into that, also would need it to be 6 volt unless I change everything to 12 witch I was considering if I can figure out the generator.this is my first build so I'm kinda learning as I go

Oops.. that's probably a deal breaker. Well wouldn't be the first time I had a
dumb idea that wouldn't work. I really have no idea if anyone makes an AGM
in six volts. Well it's a beautiful cover, I hope you can work it in and make the
missus a happy lady.
after mocking the rear end up with some black tubing for temp struts we just didn't like the lines we where getting so I think we decided on making (or more than likely begging or paying someone to make) a hard tail rear end for the Sprint. I been trying to find info on how to with limited success. might get to pick the brain of a local custom builder during Xmas dinner at the in laws and with any luck maybe he'll take a liking to my project and want to come over and have o look
course any and all info you guys can throw at me would be much appreciated also.
what if you where to have a welder move back your shock bolts on the swing arm about 1 - 2 in... that would really drop that tire into the frame a bit more... the use your stock dyna shocks on it (would give it a nice BEEFY look) but would also handle the angle change... your wife will want suspension man, exp on that narrow of a back tire... then you can hug a rear fender to your swing arm and have it float with the swing arm... from there you can keep the basic seat possiton as it is now... and then just lift your tank and rop the *** end of the tank, would give you a great line down the back bone and still leave some room for suspension!
