you can get new (never titled) AIH bikes for $15k all day long, often less.
Is there a reason you want to change the ignition? There is at least one after market ignition designed specifically for AIH bikes that I know of.
I'm sure you know you have no warranty on your chopper, but they are not hard to work on if you know a little bit about bikes.
your motor has a single cam, there should be no reason to change it.
what are you referring to? what doesn't line back up?
I would agree - leave it alone unless you have problems.
if it spits, coughs and sputters when you try to maintain 25-30 mph in town, its probably because the S&S SuperG is jetted way too lean from the factory. They come from the factory with a 29.5 intermediate jet (at least the 111 equiped bikes do). It needs at least a 31 and with the 117 motor I might go with a 33. I also liked the rear mounted kickstand I had on my texas chopper, it got rid of the kickstand drag that made left turns difficult.
Datyona Twin Tec is the only company I have seen that makes an ignition system specifically for AIH bikes.
TC88A-IH - Special Version for 2004-2007 American IronHorseŽ Motorcycles
American IronHorseŽ motorcycles use a non-adjustable ignition system manufactured in England by Gill. The TC88A-IH is a special version of our TC88A ignition that is compatible with 2004-2007 American IronHorseŽ models. Installation involves cutting off the original equipment 18 terminal AMP connector used with the Gill module and replacing it with a 12 terminal Deustch connector supplied with the TC88A-IH kit. On 2005 and later models, some minor rewiring of the MAP sensor and engine temperature sensor ground connections is required. Please refer to the TC88A-IH Installation Instructions for details.
I don't understand what you hope to gain. What are your goals?
I had a 2004 Texas Chopper for 3 years and now have a 2005 LSC that I've had for 2.5 years. I do all my own work and most of the work for my buddys 04 Texas Chopper.
Just trying to understand what you're after. If its more power thats cool.

not sure if that supposed to be sarcastic or not.
I never have had a problem with pinging after rejetting at least 3 different AIH bikes, what did you change your jetting to?
I'll be the first to admit I don't know much about performance upgrades to the S&S 111, 117 or 124, because I think they all make more power stock then you can effectively use in the Texas Chopper, because the bike just doesn't have the handling characteristics for high speed riding. but thats just me. Somebody once said - "why be in a hurry to get to the accident?"
I've read all the storys about tranny problems but have never witnessed one.
Don't get your speedo wet.
I've replaced various ignition components (used stock replacement parts provided to me under warranty)
Had several speedos replaced (the newer ones are supposed to be much more water resistant, you should be OK)
Replaced an electronic compression release
replace brake pads with Lyndall gold plus pads for longer life and far less wheel dusting.
I think the performance upgrades you are talking about will prove to be an unneccesary, costly mistake, but I wish you luck with it and would be interested in your results. just my opinion, feel free to ignore.
what are the details of your plans and the expected results?
