Thunder Mountain Chopper
Not very many notice that I have speakers attached underneath the tank. I have been using the Shark 250w motorcycle audio system for about 3 years now. I made the brackets to attached to my tank bolts. The 250w amp is in the tool bag, and the wired remote is right below the speedo console with some felt underneath so it wont scratch the paint. I can hear the music up to about 55 if it is not a windy day. This may be because they are underneath the tank. People tell me that they can hear the music from a distance. Anyway, the sound is fair, the amp has an FM tuner but doesn't bring in the stations very clear.. I mainly use my iPod mini on an armband that I wrap around the handle bars where I can easily reach it. The speaker housing was nice, shiny chrome color, but the sun has burnt much of it off and its starting to look ugly. I may try to paint them black in the near future. I looked them up, and they now have a 600 and a 1000 amp, 4 speaker system. Google shark audio and they will come up. I think all in all, for the money compared to other options, its worth it. If there were more funds available, I would take a look at cycle sounds newest system. Good luck, let me know what you went with.
Do you have the link for info on the battery that you bought?
Thanks
I was hoping you were gonna say Shark, I just ordered their 600watt system. I was also planning on putting the amp in a tool bag as well. Any heat issues with the amp being so close to the cylinder head?
On my first test ride I connected my Iphone via Bluetooth and was not impressed. As a matter of fact, when I got home I started taking the speakers off because I was going to return them. The Bluetooth connection was crappy and the sound was very low. I tried hooking up the phone with the aux cable and the sound difference was amazing! I pulled back out of the garage and out for test drive number 2. My exhaust is very loud but I was able to hear the music at 80 mph with a full face helmet on! I can also hear the music at speed with my half helmet on too but at higher speed (70-80 mph) the wind really gets into your ears.
At the end of the day I am super happy with the speakers. The Bluetooth is crap but sound is great using a SD card, USB drive or AUX cable. One more thing to mention, the forward, reverse and pause functions of the wired remote did not function properly while connected to the iphone via aux cable. However the wired remote functions perfectly with the USB drive.

I'm glad you gave it a second test drive and are happy with it. Take a look at the chrome paint on my speakers. I don't think they can take much sun. The outer edge chrome paint is discolored, turning black. I'm thinking of painting them all black although I would really prefer them chrome. If your bike gets a lot of sun and shark has not improved the paint coating, this may happen to yours. I hope not. I was thinking of purchasing the newer model but only for the bluetooth option. I will hold off for now based on your report. Please let me know if you figure out how to make the bluetooth work better.
PS. Bike looks Good! Where did you get the bag? What pipes do you have?

Just wanted to add that I contacted Shark Audio and much to my surprise, I received a quick response. They are replacing both my speakers for a total of $18.00. Wow! Great Customer Service! They posted my bike on their FB page as well. Olsen, you may want to go on FB, shark page and ask about that bluetooth. I bet they will solve your issue.
