Are you all talking about the old Indian type frames?
I know that AMAN and I thank SANTEE, and AEE (in the late 60's) and BSA had something along those lines.
Those are plunger/sprung hub frames. The early ones on BSA's and Triumph's has no rebound dampning. Alot of riders locked them and essentially made ridgids out of them. They used then until '54 or so. Harley was wise to stick with their ridged frames until the Duo glide and bypass the plunger frames.
