Small bumpy spots on rocker box covers

Just purchased a 48 from a friend a couple months ago. Been trying to give it a thorough cleaning and noticed some small bumpy spots all over the rocker box covers. Not sure how to clean them up...any suggestions?

what do the "bumps" look like? is it in the under the chrome, pitted? If you have a pic, may assist you in your help request.

You can paint over it...would suggest giving the surface some tooth with abrasives, using self-etching primer then top coating. Alternately, you can remove what clear coat is left, then polish the aluminum, but you'll be doing that from time to time from now until eternity. Or you can replace with chrome plated parts.
