I have had my brand new 48 for a month and a half, I have a little over 2700 miles on it and i was on brake today hanging out showing some fellow employees my bike and I noticed a only when the light hits it right dent in my gas tank, then I noticed on the other side of it where the decal has been dinged along with a bit of paint also I have some weird mark on it that looks like a portion of a finger print but its permanent and I can feel it...also I put a tool pouch bag on my front forks for about 2 days and when i decided to move it elsewhere on my bike i noticed it rubbed my fender and it has a small light spot in the paint...I guess what I am asking is it this mostly just me being hard on my Harley or is this type of stuff common among riders...mind you all the dings on the gas tank but one I have no idea how got there but I am suspecting road chat though...
That's all part of the experience , a person can try to avoid flying debris , but it's bound to happen. Sucks but just keep riding , and smiling you will forget all about it when you are in a deep sleep.

hello my friend....as for the nicks and what not, of course you know that is going to happen
the thumb print thing sounds like maybe a flaw in the paint that was clear coated? without seeing it, im just spit balling
My son has a low rider and his rear fender had marring and hazing from a bag he strapped to the back and rested on the fender
I was able to polish it out when I detailed his bike
Dings and Pings ? If it's not cosmetic, and can be buffed out, any good body shop can repair them. PPG paint is what Harley uses. Been there, done that.
