Pledge? Really?? Why in the world would you put furniture polish on a bike? .
Been using it on windsheild for going on 20 years. Same windshield. Another forum was big on it, maybe this one too years ago.
I carry a can when traveling, and sometimes when bugs are bad. Clean every day. I will every so many years hit with 10 and 17 MGuires too. But that is not for quick cleaning.
It doesnt matter to me what people use, their bike their choice. Why use something on a bike that is made for furniture? Again, in 2011 did these people put it on their vehicle too? If not it makes zero sense. Ive been detailing vehicles for money as a side gig for a long time. If You were a paying customer and I told you I put pledge on your bike/vehicle, what would you think? I would think, A dam hack". Its some backyard BS is what it is. Anybody that knows anything about detailing is not going to put pledge on a vehicle. Its a dam greasy as mess. Only hacks do it. But if their doing it to their own bike, their choice

people been using Windex on chrome forever.
If a car cleaner told me to use and it worked, I would think he knew what he was doing and good guy for recommending something cheaper for me to use .
Lots of products are used on items they were not intended for. How much brake cleaner is used on brakes? Windex?
I only use windshield. But have over sprayed mirrors and tank.
Not sure your 2011 question. People been doing this for 20 years I know of, probably longer. So yes they were putting on bike in 2011.

Again, not my bike doesnt matter to me.
If a person wants to use their ratchet to hammer a nail in, go ahead doesnt matter to me, its not my ratchet. Wrong tool for the job. Same as the pledge deal.
This Pledge talk is worse then the TopCoat talk from a couple years ago. At least that stuff was made for vehicle paint

he's a valued member by many and what you might call 'on and on' i see as great information and free advice with no other intent but to help folks take great care of their bikes
it is the detailing section and it's where we talk products and methods, but I've come to discover, even in detailing, some folks just don't like to be told "no, bad approach"....that's where I agree with eagle....your bike, your methods, your outcome....go your way....but don't shoot yourself in the foot and expect to be admired for good aim afterward

My point was people been doing it for years.
Sure, if was paying a guy, maybe I would expect fancy chemicals. Though if it did work, I might think it is trick the pros use. I might thank the guy for saying, for light touch ups use this cheap product.
I use it on windshield. Great on trips i do use mquires 10 and 17 occasionally, it works great. Maybe it takes off the film from pledge. But not going rub on a chemical every day or on road..
90k miles on windshield. I think it looks ok.
if know Ill be riding at night in summer, some times I'll bring pledge.
Other note
My bikes are in unheated insulated attached garage so far not a moisture issue from heating up when out there. That's a little bit of concern. But not first guy to turn heat on only when out there.
