Default aluminum oxidation

Anyone got ideas or a specific product for removing the oxidation on cast aluminum wheels, motor fin edges etc. ?

Default RE: aluminum oxidation

what i have been doing...

on my natural finish heads and engine casing

is spray it down with WD40 and wipe off excess

rips caked on oil rightoff too...(blow by drippings on engine case)

smells a little funny when burning off but seems to work well

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
on polished aluminum (side cases,headlight visor)
Neverdull...followed by a good wax...Mothers..Eagle One Nano...etc.
my fork tube sliders are beyond help...i am just getting chrome covers and be done with it
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
No matter what a pain to keep taking care of..

think when i put the 1200 conversion in my 883

i will have the natural finish parts painted wrinkle black..or powdercoated..

and go with chrome on the polished aluminum areas

just too difficult to keep the bare aluminum surfaces to keep from oxidizing

Good Luck,
Tom

thanks - sounds like I should try the Never-Dull. I've seen it but never tried it.

I used Mother's Aluminum Polish on mine to get it cleaned up a bit...but yeah, it just comes back after a while. It seems to be a real pain to keep it looking good. Eventually I guess I'll have to put chrome on mine too.

Mothers Mag and Aluminum Polish Then I put on Turtle Chrome Polish. Not sure if it really slows down the oxidation process, but I think it does, so I keep doing it. No real cure other than clear coating or chroming. Been there, done that
