Your bike appears to be black (sharp bike by the way)...I've always bought black vehichles. My cars, trucks, motorcycles, atv's everything. the only thing that gets rid of swirls and and the cob web effect is DONT BY BLACK. And I can tell ya the more product you use on the clear coat the more it softens it and the more swirls you'll have. I also hardly ever hand dry my vehicles. I use a back-pack leaf blower on my car and truck and the motocycle dryer on my Street Glide. Then, if they need touched up...I spray quick detailer one the clear coat and wipe off with a microfiber cloth. I only wipe back and forth...never in circles. Thats where your swirls come from. Never use a chamious cloth on black paint, always use microfiber. I now have a pewter pearl Street glide, a silver dodge ram and my wife has a black mercedes benz and when its time for it to go...the next one will be white or silver. I'm getting to old for black paint!!!!!!!!! Its killing me!!!! I will say that Mercedes Benz's clear coat is the hardest I've ever seen. Very resistant to swirls. Unfortunately, harley uses a very soft clear coat and it shows everything. Hope this helps.
Thanks for the info & compliment. I know black is a PITA but when I think of a Road King Classic I think Black with wide white walls. Just a glutton for punishment I guess.
Do not ever use any "one step" cleaner polish. they are loaded with abrasives.
Use a mild polish and use a good carnuba wax.
Never wax in a circular motion, always go with the contour of the body part.
Do not use a lot of pressure, use micro fiber. And once it is cleaned, polished and waxed you can use the spray detailer after washing for that just waxed look.
I have detailed just about everything that rolls, floats or flys. I have owned way too many black vehicles, including 2 black Harleys.
When washing your bike, using the two bucket wash method will stop (for the most past) creating your paint swirl issues. Use a dual action polisher with Color-X, or possibly Scratch-X to level those minor scratches in your clear coat. Then use speed glaze and a good wax and you're well on your way to a swirl free and protected finish.
Yes, I have used it on my black bagger. For hand use it's ok. Better is 3M Finesse-It with a random orbital such as Griot's Garage, not the wallyworld cheapies. A real, powerful, random orbital.
After polishing the paint to mirror finish, then seal with a polymer or acrylic sealant and top coat with a nice paste wax, not a cleaner wax.
