Default Fork question-How bad did I screw up?

OK, I pulled the reflectors off the front forks of my WG. Cleaned the goo off acetone. There was a little bit of a mark left so I tried to clean it up with Mother's Mag wheel cleaner. Needless to say, it took the brushed finish off and made the area shiny. I went ahead and shined the complete lower fork assembly and it looks great, almost like chrome. Now my question - did I remove some kind of finish? If I leave it alone, will it stay shiny or revert back to the satin look? Just wondering before I do the other side (or leave it alone). Thanks

I think there clear coated and you have buffed the clear off, You most likely will have to polish them from time to time to keep the looking good. You could use this as a opportunity to install a set of chrome lowers.
