Default Polish or Change Black Case?

I wanted an around town bike so I just picked up a '12 Dyna Wide Glide today. The light weight and 103 motor makes this bike a blast to ride. I'm thinking of getting rid of the black primary case though, it's just a little too much black for my taste. Has anyone ever tried to sand and polish out a factory painted primary case or is there company out there that does this for a reasonable price? Is it a total PITA to do and if so what could I expect to pay to have it done?

Just purchase a new one from Surdyke HD for $270 and change it out. By the time you spend stripping the paint, then polishing it, and sending it off for plating you'll have more cost in it than a new case.

I agree, I don't care for all the black on the new models,

buy a new case or I think Harley even makes a chrome cover for this,, might be cheaper and less work to install.

I know its personal preference, the right side is OK with me, its broken up by the pipes, the 103 emblem and all, but the black primary cover just don't work for me.
