No fatboy comes with a 180 except maybe the 06 SE fatboy. On a 5" rim I'd use a 180/65/16 which is bagger rear size. Fatboy comes with a 200/55/17 or the older ones come with a 150/80/16 or 140 before that. You could do a 200 tire on a 5" rim but it is not recommended on a rim that narrow. Just my .02 on the subject.

Sorry, that was me being a dumbass. I meant Fatbob, not Fatboy. I'm thinking of running the 180/70 rear, and 130/90 front like the Fatbob. Those tires being a proven combo on a dyna.

When I changed to the 16 X 5.00 Electra Glide rim, I used the 180/65/16 touring tire. Believe it or not, by using GPS to verify, my speedometer was actually more accurate at highway speed than stock. Nice little bonus.

Since your are replacing the rubber, I would highly recommend the Dunlop American Elite Gen II. I put them on my Ultra Classic last summer and have been amazed ever since. Dennis Kirk is the lowest price I have seen.

Thanks, I'll keep that in mind. I'm a big fan of the Metzler 880, and had been running them for 12 or so years before this year. This spring I tried Michelin Commander II's on the Street Bob and have been thoroughly unimpressed with them. I just figured I'd go back to the Metzler when I got the new rubber, but I'll give some serious thought to the Dunlops. What do you find amazing about them?

I'm approaching this from another angle, the very tight budget angle.

I've got an 06 Street Bob and I'm going for 17's front and rear. I put Fatbob trees on to make enough room for the wide front tire and got a stock rear rim which I'm planning to have laced to the stock front hub. I also have a Fatbob front fender.

The only tire I can find for the front is the Fat Boy 140/75x17 but Im concerned the rim may be a bit too wide for it. Anybody have an opinion on whether this will work?

My only alternative is to go 16's front and rear which means rebuilding both wheels and replacing both tires - expensive
