My 2011 Street Bob came with 12" apes (Factory Default). I am 6'4" tall and have long monkey arms. I installed 14 inch Burly Narrow Bottom apes so I could extend my arms a little more, plus they look great. The Street Bob (+ All Sportster and Dyna models) have a narrow fork assembly and the Burly Narrow Bottom ape hangers fit perfectly. Burly sells them in black or chrome and in 12", 14" and 16" heights. I personally think the 16" ones are too tall. The 2 inches between 12" and 14" sounds small but there is definitely a noticeable difference in the height.
Also, the taller your handle bars are the more responsive the bike will become when pushing and pulling to turn. Too tall and things can get dangerous fast. Most US States do not allow your hands to be higher than your shoulders for that reason.
Going from the 12" stock to the Burly 14" apes required cable extensions. Burly also sells the extension kits.
