Has anyone removed the gold color metal HD eagle emblem from the chromed battery box cover? Just wondering if you can remove it without messing up the chrome cover. I don't like the gold look with my bike colors.
The same way you can take off those front reflectors on the lower legs of your forks. Use dental floss, get a piece wrap it around both your index fingers and slide it behind the emlem, it will remove the emblem then take goo gone and clean off the sticky residue left behind, then polish it up.
we haev removed prob 50 of these, EVERY SINGLE ONE of them under it was a mess... every one... some we had to layer primer and block sand they where so jacked up before we could top coat. if you are not planning on doing powder, leave it, or find one without it... just removing it will look horrible

Ouch disregard my advice. I would get it powdercoated if I were you. Only cost like $15 or at least here it would.
That is not factory, someone put it there. I would give the heat gun a shot, Goo b Gone after. If it looks terrible, you are in the same place needing to get one without the emblem.
Ok, thanks guys for the dental floss tip and goo gone. No big loss, so I'll go ahead and try to remove it. I guess worst case, I can try to reinstall it, or buy a new one. Anyone know if the 08' and up will fit? I kind of like the band on them. I like powder coating on some bikes, but this one likes chrome. :-) That said, I might buy chrome fork lowers or epoxy or powder coat the crappy looking aluminum lowers that are stock on it.
Architech, Interesting, I've seen several 02's with the emblem, so I thought they were stock, not added. There is one on the back of my sissy bar also, but it doesn't look as bad for some reason.
