Turn signal mod throwing codes.
Like the OP, I swapped my rear sigs for LEDs and got the error and "fast flash" thing (2011 FXDB).
Essentially, this is just a function built into the TSSM (Turn Signal Security Module) that alerts the rider to a problem in the turn signal system.
In medieval days (like 1970s-80s) signals would blink faster if one bulb was blown, due to the lower resistance across an old-school semi-mechanical blinker unit that relied on heat build up to turn it on-off-on-off.
In those old systems, it was necessary to add resistors (aka load equalizers) or get a different blinker unit.
Nowdays (even prior to canbus) blinking is usually done electronically via the TSSM, but is designed to mimic the old-school system for safety I guess. Stuff around with the system, it'll blink fast to warn you of potential error...
Here's what I did:
RESET THE TSSM:
- Pull the front brake lever and hold it on.
- Turn ignition ON. Brake light should now be on.
- Push the left signal button, then push the right signal button immediately.
- This will reset the TSSM.
That's it. Worked first time, and and blink rate has been normal ever since.
I don't know if the 2007 is the same TSSM as mine (2011) but it probably is...
I hope that helps.
