Yes, I've searched the forums already, but I'm asking for my specific, stock(ish) 88TC 05 FXDL. Santa brought me the SE hydraulic tensioner and pump upgrade...I plan to have my local indie install the kit + a cam upgrade.
My HD dealer offers 20% on parts this coming Tuesday. I may want to take advantage of the discount and snag some SE cams. But of course it comes down to WHICH cams...
I already have a 2-1 + intake but I don't plan on doing big bore or headwork. I do mostly highway and inner city riding (lane splitting and mirror dodging) so I'm looking for low to midrange power.
Dealer is trying to push the 211s on me but I think I've read some horror stories about them? Thoughts? I should add that I personally weigh less than 140 and never carry a passenger so regardless, anything is going to move my @ss...
As much as i am not a fan of this cam. The SE-255 might be a cam for you. It peters out on the higher RPM's but it is a pretty healthy low end cam. I agree the SE-211 is not a great choice for your riding and stock compression either. You do know that you have to get the bike re tuned however right? And depending on what route you choose to go with the tunning you might be quite happy with just getting a really good tune. Also consider maybe a pulley change that can make a big difference in the low end. If you feel you want to search other cams look at the Andrews 26 cam that will fit your style real nice.
My indie is going to tune my carb as part of the install. Again, I know there are like a million threads on here about which cams to choose, but I'm specifically asking what the pluses and minuses are for the different SE cams with stock compression...
Also just noticed that the 2015 HD parts catalogue no longer lists the SE211 cams...wondering if the dealers are "pushing" the 211s bc Harley has a bunch leftover and wants to clear stock?? Conspiracy theory maybe but still
They still List that cam being made in the 2015 Screaming eagle catalog I suggest you down load it and start reading at page 70 i think you gain the answers you are seeking there my friend.
+1 on the 204's, good low to mid range torque. If the bike is an EFI then a retune/remap/ fuel management is in order. Had the hybrid cam plate, cam chain tensioners and improved oil pump installed in my 02 95" build, real good results. By the way it is a carb bike.
