I want to put something else on my bike than the national windshield that's on it now. Since I've gotten it, I added a 2in riser, put mini apes on it and moved the tac and speedo to a wide glide tank. I moved the blinkers to the forks as well. Other than that, I haven't modified any other part on the front end. It has the showa 39mm set up.
The problem I'm finding is that the replacement windshields stand straight up (to allow room for the previously bar mounted tac/speedo). I don't like how that looks at all and am looking for a bracket that will work with my forks while allowing the tilt of the windshield to be closer to fork angle. Anyone have a clue?
I called J&P, their tech had no idea. HD Dealership told me I was SOL... I know there has to be some way to get this done.
My HD quick detachable runs more along the lines of the forks, maybe a little more what you are looking for?, these are the best pictures I have of it, I will find the part number if you want it.

You might consider a fairing versus windshield. Memphis Shades has 3 sizes:: cafe, gauntlet, batwing. They are detachable. SOA used Arlen Ness fairing. I have Memphis Shades Gauntlet on my Sportster. Looks and works great. You might consider batwing for long trips
I've looked at fairings, seems a little heavy for this bike. I don't think I'd like that... I'll call about the FXDC shield. You guys make it sound so simple, yet every tech I've talked to said these parts wouldn't work. I'll check with them again. Thanks!
My Sportster and Dyna Wide Glide both had quick detach windshields and more or less followed the lines of the forks. I'm sure that is what you would be looking for.
Yes they do. Mine also hand the thicker front forks. The point being, the HD Quick disconnect windshields spec'd for your FXD will run close to parallel with your forks and not stand vertical.
