Two questions for those of you that have installed an oil pressure gauge. What size fitting goes into the case where the stock sender is? I believe it 1/4" but I want to make sure. Next question is for those that have the gauge mounted on the rear rocker. How long is that piece of hose? Russell makes a pre assembled stainless hose for that but I can't find anywhere how long it is. I want to use it but need to know its length because I'm not mounting my gauge on the rocker box. Thanks
1/4" NPT on the case side. Length, I don't know.
I mounted mine to my LR dash.
You can use 1/8 copper tube. Cover it with 1/8 rubber vacuum line to make it disappear (black)
Just wondering monster, is there a need to moniter the oil pressure on a 124" build vs a 107" build like mine? Making me think if I should be looking into this. Sure wish the oil pressure went to the ECM, I would display it on my Power Vision but for some reason HD must not think it is important to us...

It's just a little protection for the money put into the motor. To me the $100-$150 is well worth the protection on a $5k+ motor. I don't think the idiot light comes on til oil pressure drops to 2 psi. Theses motors don't put out a lot of pressure but if your banging through the gears you'll notice the drastic drop from 30 psi to 0 and shut her down

I wouldn't recommend copper tubing. Copper will break due to the vibration of the rubber mounted motor. Better off finding a flexible stainless steel line.

So i guess SS is more flexible than CU?
I've used both. I have 1/8" SS inside my rubber hose now. Never had a problem with CU though that couldn't be repaired. If it does start leaking it's not like rubber where you get a catastrophic failure & loose all your oil at once. There's lots of things that COULD happen to a bike...
I read though that thread but the pic of where mud mounted his gauge is deleted. I thought about using copper tube but I'm going to mount the gauge on the riser tube of my tbars. I was worried that the twisting back and forth would be too much stress for the copper. Last thing I want to do is break that line and blow up my motor because of the oil gauge line. That would be ironic. I just bought some stainless braided 4 AN hose and the fittings I will need. Going to wait til I put the motor back in to get a final cut on the upper side of the hose. Holy crap stainless hose and fittings are expensive..
Monster715 I have one on my 99 king I followed the stainless line with a piece of string then messured that with a tape it came out to be about 20 inches its the russell I had it for about 4 years now I believe I got it from Jerzee customs.
