I adjusted the clutch maybe a week back to fix the scraping problem I got. I'm worried. When I shift into first from second I can feel the clutch scrape. I don't know what the hell it is. I still got 20W 50 oil in the primary and checked the levels. It hasn't been that cold here in Maryland, rarely seeps beloe 25 Farenheit. I properly warm up the bike before I ride. Anybody else have this problem?
What do you mean by "scraping"?
These are dog-style transmissions (not synchronized), so shifts can be pretty brutal.
And oil bath clutches tend to never completely disengage.
Yeah I also have no idea what you mean by the clutch scraping. It sounds more like you're just describing the rough downshift to 1st than can happen for a lot of reasons that have nothing to do with the clutch. I seriously doubt a wet clutch could even make a "scraping" sound.
My 09 has an issue when first fired up until warm with the scratching into 1st, once the bikes warm it's all good. I figure this is a harley deal and there's no fix besides warming up the bike before dropping it into gear. I get no lurch if I start the bike in first, just a scratch you can hear and feel in the shifter (sometimes it is pretty violent sounding) only 6k miles so I can't see a problem with the clutch especially since it doesn't slip and functions properly 90% of the time into 1st and every other gear is fine.

Reason: spelling error
i think i know what you're talking about. are you referring to a grinding sound that may possibly be accompanied by some slight vibration in the shift peg? Maybe you back off your foot completely and attempt to retry the shift because the noise was funky sounding?
i used to get those occasionally, usually when the bike was cold started. in my opinion, putting gear lube in the transmission vice 20-50 oil will help solve the problem. it's not really a big issue, and i don't have any concrete evidence to back up the gear lube statement. but i can say i haven't had the scraping noise since i replaced motor oil with transmission lube in the transmission.
I just put Redline transmission 75-140 shockproof in my tranny and it is butter smooth now. No grinding or clunk going into gear and nice smooth shifts.
