Default 2011 FXDWG tires

Ok have done lots of research, last time I replaced tires I went with the Pirelli night dragons, let me say they are good tires but I have about 5k miles and the rear is shot!! So all of you that ride a 2010 or newer wide glide what are you running for tires and what kind of life you getting out of them and what size rear you running since we have a limited availability of tire choices?? I'd love to get something that will last more than 5k miles!! i have a 90/90-21 on the front and I'm open do different sizes on the rear, just want something that will be comparable to the stocker and hopefully get more than 5k miles! Thanks in advance!!

I have a 2012 with the original Michelin Scorchers that have 11k on them. The front needs to be replaced and the rear has 3-4 32nds left.

Cool man, that's what were on my bike before the pirellis, I got the bike with 1100 miles on it and had to replace them at 5500 miles, the front was cupped so bad and the rear was a slick, I'm thinking about trying the avons..

I have a 2013 Wide Glide. Replaced the front Scorcher at 12,000 because of cupping. It now has a Commanderll. The rear is the original Scorcher 31 (180 x 17) and needs replacing at 16,000. The Scorcher is just expensive from the dealer at $330. Would like to run a Commander ll 200 but afraid it won't fit the rim correctly. Proably wait for new rim before changing tire brands.

if the 2011 wide glide is like our 2010 and there is only a couple of tires that fit the rim properly.
The rear rim is not wide enough for most 180 series tires. I was going through tires at first and getting best mileage was around 6,000 miles.
I tried a 170 rear tire. Big difference in performance, traction, an handling. I did a test with both of them, 180 vs 170.
The 170 has a bigger imprint on the road. I done a spin out to check the imprint on the 180 vs 170.. The 170 was almost a inch wider. More tire on the ground. Most 180's are too wide for the wheel which causes the center of the tire to be pushed upward. Does the same thing if too much psi on the tire does.
I am just passing along what I found.
If you want to run any of the 180 tires a wider rim is really needed.
Oh, I have 10,000 miles on the rear now and looks like I will get another 3,00 to 4,000 more

Harley is getting bad about using custom size wheels so you have to get your tires from them.
My CVO uses odd size wheels front and back. The front is a 19 and the rear is a 18. Harley is about the only folks that carry the specialized tires from Dunlap.

That's the info I was looking for. So what the tire your running in a 170? I have the night dragons and I thinknits a 190/50 on the rear now. The stock is a 180/60-17, these dang bikes are hard to find tires for!!! I'd be interested in trying the 170 rear if you could tell me the size and brand.

Any 170 will work. I am using a cheap tire right now. Got it for $119. Shekio I think is how it is spelled. 170x70 this will have the speedo off by .37 mph at 60 mph. so at 60 mph it would be actual 59.88 mph.
Tire height is 25.37 on the 170 x 70 and the 180 x 60 is 25.21
hope this helps ya.
The 190 x 50 is 24.23

The height is not that important other than clearance it's the width of the tire. The specialty rear tire from HD is designed to fit that rim.
I like th enight dragons. I use the shiko tire for testing purposes. It was cheap tire to test with.

How long u us the Shinko on?? I mean if I'm only gonna get 5k out of a rear cheap will work for me!! I ride the hell out of the bike, heck I used to get better mileage out of my pilot powers on my crotch rockets and I was always on the pipe. in just getting tired of putting rear tires on every 2 months.. Wonder how long a shinko will last? I know lots of guys are running a 200/55-17 tire. Not sure that's the route I wanna go, Avon makes a decent tire but not in the oem size.. All these guys saying they get 8,9,10k miles out of a tire are the ones that probably only ride on the weekends, I want info from someone who actually rides..
