I need a new front tire for my DWG. The factory tire barely lasted 9,500 miles of primarily highway riding. Any suggestions for a reasonably priced tire that might last?
I've never had a 21" front wheel. However, I am surprised that yours only lasted 9500 miles. I would have guessed that it would have been good for at least 15k.
The 19" fronts on my Sporty are good for 15-20k. That's even running a lesser known brand...Shinko.
The 16" fronts on my Road King last and last. The original front lasted 39k. The second one now has 25k and still looks great.
I would say there was a pressure problem....lack there of. Look at the Dunlop Elite III tire and keep the pressure checked. Most tires loose 1# per month. Contrary to other posts seen here, I have not had any problems getting flops from Drag Specialties or J&P Cycles.
I have 10K on my frontDunlop with about 5K+/-worth of tread left. But, it has a little bit of cupping starting to show. My back is pretty much wasted, so I'm going to get Metz ME880's for both front and rear this weekend. $165 rear and $99 front. I've heard great things about the ME880 here on the forum. Gonna also do my pads at the same time, as my rear pads are gone too.
I've also heard not to mix treads/compounds between front and rear tires....but I don't really know how true that is.
