It's easier to ask for forgiveness.....than to ask for permission.
In my last divorce I thought I was smart and had been hiding money in an account in another state. Her sneaky lawyer found and I had to give her $30K. My persent wife (#4) is very understanding and rides her own bike.
I don't hide it! because I'M NOT WHIPPED. If you have a job and the bills are getting paid
with some going to savings then, be a MAN OR A WOMAN which ever the case may be, stand up and DON'T grovel. Quit being a SHEEPLE. I buy what I can afford and trust that she does the same.
FBL, you have given this topic entirely too much thought! How about this; buy what you want, within your fiscal limitations, and if you get any static, point out that - "Hey, at least I didn't spend the money on crack!"
I have 90% of my check direct deposited into our checking account and get a paper check for the 10%. she thinks the 90 % is the whole check. damn im good!
OK lets see.....my wife works, I work....we both contribute to everything we have, without the need to ASK before we do something.
My wife shops at Plato's and looks for clearance deals on items...she has never said a word about what I spend on Motorcycles, Snowmobiles, and hunting items.
As long as the bills are paid on time, money set aside for retirement and we have extra saved up for whatever, neither of us care what the other spends...
I don't hide my habit anymore... the wife rides and all I do is get a chrome trinket or two for her bike and pipes and a/c for mine...She's thrilled she has some things to polish...and I get an extra 15HP sweet deal if you ask me..Later
Wife gets a check from me every week towards household expenses. She pays all the bills and also spends alot of it on god knows what. Anything that gets dumped into my Harley is paid out of my pocket from what is left of my check every week. Everytime I ask her opinion on whether I should save the money up for a big ticket item or just say screw it and put it on my charge, she says "it's your dime do what you want, your responsible for that note."
We trust each other enough notquestion each other for what we each want to spend money on.
