Earlier today I was on the freeway doing 80-ish when there was a sudden loss of power - it lasted only a couple of seconds. The deceleration was similar to totally releasing the throttle.
I re-accelerated and a few seconds later it happened again.
That time it reminded of the feeling when you bump against the rev limiter - but I was nowhere the rev limit - I glanced down and was a bit over 3000rpm at that moment.
It also felt similar to running out of gas.
The bike did not shut off or die - just no power as if I released the throttle.
I moved over to the far right lane in case I lost all power and maintained 60-65 mph the rest of the way home but never felt it again.
I have a full tank of gas. Plugs are clean. Mods as listed in my signature.
Any ideas where to look first??
Spark plug wires? Coil harness? Crap in fuel tank??
I run a Powervision but do not have it hooked up all the time.
I think if I attach it to the bike I should be able to see if theres a trouble code.
I'm going to try that next.
What else can I check?
I'll be nervous riding now waiting for the bike to lose power or die if I don't sort this out....
I will check the battery connections.
The coil relocation has been on for over a year but I'll check those connections as well.
I did have my plugs out recently maybe I damaged a plug wire? I'll change those.
And I guess seafoam couldn't hurt, but I really suspect electrical or ignition is the culprit here.
Thanks for all your responses.
