Default Screamin Eagle Stage 4 kit for 103

I am looking at getting a Stage 4 race kit done on my 13 street bob with a 103. I am not very tech savvy and would like any recommendations, concerns or input on this subject. I was quoted $4000 including dyno. Bike is stock now other than breather and pipes. The dealer says I should near double horsepower with the race kit. Bike is out of warranty. Thoughts anyone?

For that kind of money I'd look at a 106/107 kit from a reputable manufacturer. If you really want to chase power you could save a little more than that and get into some bigger cube crate motors too. I just think there's too many better options. Since your bike is not under warranty an that is not a concern I would venture out of the HD real for beefing up the engine.

I agree with everything you have said my issue is that I don't have time to wrench on it myself and where I am there are no shops that I could trust nearest is 4 hours away and would have to transport my bike and cost of fuel and time could easily add a few hundred.

Then I would wait until I had the time to wrench on it if it were me. You can easily do a 107 kit over a weekend people like Fuel Moto even have step by step videos on how to do it and can provide a solid base map to get you going.

Just my $0.02

Your weak point in that kit will be the clutch spring. HD just doesn't make one strong enough. A stock 103 makes about 75 to 80 horse if your lucky, a SE stage four kit will not get you to 160 NFW in this world! You would need a whole different clutch for that. Remember that HD cannot build you a motor unless it is street legal. What "the dealer told you" is just smoke up your ****!
I understand though you want power you can trust because HD has a reputation to uphold, but your warranty on the new kit will be three months parts only if I'm not mistaken.

You Are Making an EMOTIONAL buy! If your going to lay 4000$ out for motor work what is an extra three or four hundred $ for transportation costs?

Look at what this guy got for his 4000$ https://www.hdforums.com/forum/engin...age-4-kit.html
I have that much coming out of my 107 kit from fuel moto.

Besides a 58 mm throttle body won't be delivering anywhere near it's potential you can't funnel extra hay down a horse's mouth and expect it to run faster!
SE super tuner is a good product but must be tuned by harley and you don't get to play with it it stays in the box until you re-dyno the bike some day, so you have another 560$ just sitting there.

Spend some time finding a good performance shop they are all over the place in Ontario, get a budget trailer I think it costs about 30$ for a day and drive your bike out to that shop on your day off. By the time they put it together for you you can have someone drive you there and then ride it home! The shop will stand behind their work too ya know!

For some people its ok to buy a Harley but by god whatever you do don't put HD parts in your bike. Funny Huh, I giggle when I read someone saying things like that. Sure you can go another route but if a man wants HD parts I see nothing wrong what so ever with that. Hey Op you will enjoy your Stage 4 big time I believe. Congrats on the up grade....

I'm on the fence about the stage 4 or stage 2 kit..... It's really not a price point, it's a matter of added performance for the price..... Hell, stage 4 installed is damn near close to a 120R installed for $2k more..... Minus driveline upgrades.... And I don't think anyone here would argue that performance gain. My HD shop doesn't have a dyno either, so if think a cam upgrade and a tuner would be my best option.

Fuelmoto is too far away from me, and to my knowledge there's no indy's around me..... I live in the middle of nowhere

Why ask the question in the first place. Why the up grade? do you want to go faster, or just be cool and you can say I HAVE A (^&()^%_. Been around longer then most here on this from, built bikes and some fast ones too. Most people who get there bikes built up don't know how to ride them anyway, and with a big build problems all the time. So if your looking just to be cool, put a cam in with a nice lob sound, but if you want to go fast build it your self that way when it breaks down you will know how to fix it. I sold a built up bike to a guy once, I warned his about all the power, he said he know what he was doing. Long story short, one block away he stopped at a stop sign to make a right het the gas bike came out from under him you know the rest ie over his head with power.
