So I just ordered some new burly 12 in jail bars a ness fairing and dyno jet pv 2 for my 14 street bob gonna order a new air cleaner Thursday when I get paid also... I'm excited to finally personalize my baby I got a ? I grew up racing dirt bikes changed many bars I was wondering if ill have any problems re using my factory grips or not it will eventually get sum new ones but gonna hopefully get seat and a bassani road rage with my next money
I had no problems getting the factory grips off my 2014 SB. Just move the switch housing out of the way, slide a very small flat head screw driver under the grip and spray a bit of wd-40 between grip and bars. Slowly work your way around the bar with the screwdriver, you'll hear the glue cracking a bit and then pull the grip right off.
If you weren't aware already, the new 2014 bikes have micro connectors, so when changing the bars, even though your factory shop manual and most videos will tell you that you'll need to remove the tank and de-pin your connectors you should not have to do this. I was able to remove the wires from the stock bars and re-wire without having to de-pin anything, wires came out of the neck with no tank removal.
Sounds like you already know how to do everything but the above info is not widely out there.
Sweet i was hoping they wasn't stuck like the ones on my yfz 450 I had to cut them but dirt bike four wheeler grips are lil cheaper ha I can't wait for the parts to come in ill post pics along the way
Man so I get home start opening my new parts and my bars came in with a big dent in the front where they flare out right past where the controls stop jp cycles has another set on the way but they prolly won't be here till mid next week I got to looking at it and I think the master cylinder will cover it up wondering what y'all would do I really wanted to put them on this weekend

If it covers it up then I would probably go for it, but if it doesn't completely covert it up then wait. I know it sucks to wait but you paid good money for it, and it sounds like J & P is doing right by you.
Yea jp cycles is the best vendor in my opinion they have great customer service when I called the girl was really helpful she asked no questions they went ahead and shipped me a knew set and ups will pick up the other set I thought It might have been like that on purpose from burly but it's a ding about the size of a quarter right where the bars flare from inch to 1 and quarter I think this weekend I'll take the throttle side control off and see if the master cylinder will cover it if it does I think ill out them on

IMO I'd much rather pay the 12 bucks and just buy new grips and 2 bucks for the griplock glue then poke and prod at old ones for even 5 minutes. Or even if the throttle tube is still like new buy the one side for 6 bucks lol.

have fun!
Robbyville is correct about the connectors. CanBus bikes (dyna family '12+) have small connectors. I have seen some cheap chinese made junk bars that the holes were not slotted and they still wouldn't fit. Nothing a lil grinding can't fix though. As far as the tank goes I took mine off since it comes off very easy but I was changing my throttle/idle cables as well so I'm super **** about having them all back in clean and back in the OEM keepers as well. Good luck with your bar change!
Well waiting on the plasi dip to dry on my fairing goin to have her ready to rock n roll in the morning ill post sum pics tomorrow I might wait to put the bars on till I get the non dinged one but I dunno I feel like a kid with new toys that I gotta stare at and not play with ha ha going to install my tuner for sure in the morning think ill run the power vision screen to set behind my fairing
