rgr357 how much do you ride? I put 4000 miles on my burly slammers front and rear kit. Every mile of it sucked ***. It looked badass though so i dealt with it all the way up until i decided i actually wanted to ride the bike. Can it be ridden? Hell yea. Does it suck. You bet your ***. I went back to stock for now and enjoy the height more than i do the softness. Next round im going for some sort of performance 12" struts.
I got them on mine and I like them. Once I got the preload adjusted I couldn't notice a difference in the ride compared to stock. Most complaints I've heard are from when they are not adjusted. I've talked to others and they felt the same as me. I found mine on Amazon for about $150 shipped. If Burly is still doing it you install them and send them a pic, they send you a shirt.
I have never had the burlys I went with 11" shocks because there were much more options as far as quality and brand. Personally I would not choose the burlys just because they are a mediocre shock at best. Find an 11" quality shock and you'll be better off if you want to drop the rear. The 1/2" difference is not noticeable.
I have the Slammer kit, and not only does it look great, it rides just fine. Now I only way 140 pounds, so maybe that is a factor. Just the fact that it also eliminates the rear motocross fender gab is reason enough to have it. inexpensive kit, well worth it.
I've had a pair of Slammers on my FXDX since I got it from the PO, and it wasn't really a big deal for me other than the fact at when I ride two up, I find that I scrape a lot when I hit bigger bumps and when I go over railroad tracks. I know it says not to ride two up with them on there, but that was my only option at the time. I'm waiting on my new shocks at the moment. If anyone is interested in a set of chrome Slammers, let me know...they will be getting listed here shortly.
Oh and don't think that if you weigh much they won't ride good enough. I weigh in at about 3 bucks and I think they are fine.
Like I said before adjusting them is the key.

I have around 3000 on them and as mentioned, I dont see a big difference over stock. Now I dont have the front lowered, just the back. Sorry yours sucks *** but Ive put over 350 miles on mine in one sitting (other then gas stops) and no issue. Could have gone 500. Im not just trying to act tough or anything like that I really dont think they are bad.
That said I couldnt ride 15 miles on my stock seat with out being in pain and suffering from numb ***. Switched over to the lepera and no problem... those 300+ mile days were on it as well.
Is it as comfy as my recliner in front of the TV? No and Im not looking for that. Ive road alot of dirt & some mountain bikes and now those seats will hurt your ***. I think its the opposite that you say if anything, the more time you have on it the less you notice it and longer you can ride.
