2014.5 Low Rider and further forward mids, just can't get comfortable, help!
Love the bike and dig the riding position......... until about an hour and my hips start to hurt, I'm old
Guess this means I need forwards, but even when my feet are on the highway pegs ( where the forwards would be)
I feel somewhat awkward, I believe because the seat is so low. Didn't have this problem with my old fat Bob or when I recently sat on a wide glide.
My question is, are all Dyna's the same in the part of the frame where the seat mounts?
Can I simply add forwards and change the seat to a higher seat than the stock low rider?
I really like the mids but cramp up after awhile, maybe just a higher seat as the first change,
Any thoughts, btw have a 30 inch inseam
I'm 5'11'' with a 32'' inseam. I have been having the same problem with hip cramps. I'm a fit guy so that's not the problem. I have actually been thinking about floorboards. They would take away some style points. The last bike I had was a Road King. I never had leg/ hip cramps on that.
I got some cramps using only the further forward mids and put highway pegs on to help. If you went with a different seat such as a mustang it should sit you up a bit higher
In my experience, seats and footpeg locations that allow the top of your thighs and your spine to be at or close to 90 degrees will eliminate hip discomfort. I used a low profile Corbin seat last year and my hips always hurt after I rode a while, I'm 35 so it's not an age thing yet. If the seat dips too low or the foot pegs are too high, that is when I get hip and lower back discomfort. I switched to a Mustang Vintage solo and combined with mid controls it cured all the discomfort issues I was having.
Had same issues with the hips. Something to do with being over 65 I think. Anyway changed out factory Mids to forward controls. Problem gone. That is hip problem. Still over 65
I ordered the mustang wide vintage solo seat with backrest in the hopes it moves me up and back from the stock seat, if that doesn't fix the heat cramps then next will be Forward Controls, if that doesn't work, I'll trade it for a Fat Bob.
I prefer the mids for spirited riding but highway droning they are not in the best position for me. So I added the highway pegs that mount where the forward go.
