Bike sputtering
Just to update it was the battery cables not being snug enough. Now the damn engine light comes on after starting for a few seconds and goes off. From what I've read its from a low battery. Going to get a voltmeter and check this afternoon what it shows and if needed pick up a battery charger. Would a trickle charge suffice or an actual battery charger be better? I ride everyday but do a lot of around town stops daily with only about 8 miles on the interstate one way. Probably too much starting without ample amount of time for the battery to recharge itself? Sound on point?
Here's an easy way to check/clear engine code if any:
Got a tender today and oil/filter. Didnt know the oil filter was a bugger to get off. Anyway took the battery out and hooked up the tender in my house (no electricity in the shop yet) and the light indicator says it's 80% charged. Gonna let it charge until indicator says full and change oil before running again. Oil looks pretty good but since it's getting warm I'd rather be safe than sorry. If the engine light comes on after cranking again, is it possible it needs to be reset? Or once you fix the problem does the engine light go away on it's own?
Thanks for the video shovelheadroad. I forget to check youtube sometimes for problems. It's going to be raining all week so I'll have plenty of time to figure this stuff out and hopefully get it running good again. Rode a little less than 100 miles today and it ran fine but I swear it has less throttle response. Could be all in my head but doesn't seem to jump like it normally does.
This is just a suggestion and probably unnecessary with a stock ECM.
I have the Thundermax ECM, and anytime the batterry is disconnected, I am to cycle the key on for 30 seconds, then off for 30 seconds...do the cycle 3 times.
This is to home out my IAC. Again, probably not necessary for stock, but really can't hurt anything to disconnect the battery and try it.
I use a little blue Loctite on the battery bolts. My brother broke down once and gave me a call. He thought he was having battery issues, so I grab my old battery and go to rescue him...found the loose battery bolt, tightened her down and problem solved.

So you do that before putting the battery in? It came with a PCV but none of the info to use it or tricks like you just mentioned. Been thinking I should buy a new one or get a power vision auto tune so I'd have everything I need to use it properly. Money just a bit funny ATM lol. I'll give it a try. THAnks

You can probably get documents for your controller from the mfg. website.
