Never checked. And have not hooked my FP3 back up to see. All I know is these baby's are designed to cook! Though I try to keep her moving and away from Main street during bike week.
that's not bad, does it get hotter in the summer when it's in the 90's?
Don't know yet, didn't have my Powervision last summer.last weekend buddy
and me rode 415 miles temps were in mid 80's and we were running 80-95 the
whole way down the interstate and temp never got over 266.
Sweet I knew that they all run pretty hot just wondering since I got my power vision I keep the temp on my gauge screen been keepin up with it stays around 240 on 80 degree day get lil warmer in traffic, thanks for the info I was just curious
I had my buddy's IR guage on my heads and it read 270 to 280 running normal on country roads at 55 mph while the powervision read 240 to 250 simultaneously, so which is right? According to fuel moto and dynojet it's the PV that is right since it takes it's reading from inside as opposed to the IR gun that takes surface temp. of the heads.
Of course my engine having a bit of a build on creates alot more heat; 1st there's less metal to absorb and dispersde the heat, 2nd higher compression = more heat so I had to add ward's cooling fans ,that wasn't quite enough, so I added a jagg 10 row oil cooler, without those 2 solutions my temps can go up to 320 to 350 on a hot day in traffic. Even with my cooling efforts if I'm running hard like 80 or 90 on a hot day my temps will easily reach 270.
So if yours runs 240 @ 80 mph be happy! I wish mine could run so cool.
Sportster temp guage reads from the hotter back cylinder. Mine would get up to about 420. Dyna temp guage is on front. When I practice slow riding, it gets to about 310 before I rest it. BTW, I have a stock 96" with PV.
