Exclamation Engine temps 250-300 on PV2...

Been monitoring my engine temp since the cam install. My PV2 is usually between 250 degrees consistently for highway riding and 300 in the city. It hasn't even been really hot and humid here yet either. I don't really have a baseline temp since I installed the PV2 with the cams. Curious how accurate this gauge is, and also if I should be worried??

Is that the front head temp? If so that's about what I see. I looked into it too, and I can't find a real answer (just people's opinions with no facts to back anything up) about what is too hot. I know that there are others who see similar temps, and my bike hasn't blown up yet.

Not sure if it's the front head or what. It's the "engine temp" choice in the gauges. I know there's also a engine coolant temp and another temp. I'll monitor all of them on the way home from work tonight and let you know what I get. 92 degrees here today.

Bike's running great, but without a baseline before the cam swap I have no idea if it's running hotter now. Hopefully someone with a bit of insight will chime in.

no where near being knowledgeable enough to have an opinion...but I do have a breakout and a PV2

I asked the same question here and on the tech forums and got the same range of answers from that's fine to it's going to explode.

I have tuned my bike with the PV2 and ran one session of autotune so far. My bike runs about the same as yours. Before I took off the PV to take it in for it's first service I was hitting just above 300 in traffic. Since then I removed the PV and haven't monitored the temps anymore...but that's where I'm at. I just have a stage 1 on my bike.

I used to see 300 around town and installed a set of Jason Ward's fans and yet to see over 250. I can't say if 300 is too hot or not but it wasn't something I wanted to see
on my PV screen Ohh and in NO WAY affiliated with that company

I'm in the same situation with the same question. What are normal heat parameters when readings are taken from the temp sensor on the front jug? For years I used the V&H Fuel Pak and monitored my temps by using an oil temp dip stick which of-course is a measurement of the oil in the bucket and not the engine. My normal operating temp range has always been between 200 and 220. Temps on the stick could rise to 240 when sitting in traffic on hot days. Recently installed a set of Andrew's cams and re-mapped the ECM with the Power Vision. Dynojet provided me the a custom map and the bike is running flawlessly.

I set up the temp gauge display on the PV. I've only made initial comparisons between the dip stick and the PV gauge but 200 on my stick is roughly 280 on the PV gauge. My current belief is that a 300 degree reading taken from the Temperature Sensor is within safe operating temps. Would like to hear more feedback from those monitoring their temps with the PV.

My Heritage ran 250-300,oil temp, a lot when I was using mineral oil. I have switched to Redline oil and now the hottest I saw was yesterday 250. out door temp was 95 and I was on new blacktop idling past a wreck on the highway. I was parade stopped for about 45 minutes. I am in love with Redline oil!!! My engine would have been shutting down cylinders with the old oil.

I'm running redline too. I monitored both engine temp and coolant temp on the way home tonight. Turns out they are both the same reading, so I'm assuming they're gathering the info from the same sensor.
