Hey guys I'm looking at putting new bars on my street bob. I'm looking at the carlini evil apes or todds cycle strip apes. 14" with a 2" riser probably. Any thoughts help photos suggestions would be great. Thanks guys.
The carlini's look sick, I almost bought a set for my sbob but couldn't make myself justify the 350 price tag. the strip bars are pretty sweet too. But also you might wanna consider how you wanna sit when you ride. Your gonna have to reach forward for the carlini's and the todds will be lower on the grips and be more toward you... Just food for thought.
This is my first set of apes and I'm still fairly new to riding so I have no idea what I want. Something that's comfortable riding around town but something that's won't kill me if I decide to hop on and ride for hrs on a long rode trip.
Well everyone is different when it comes to comfort. Some people prefer low bars where some others think the sky's the limit. Personally I have a 13" t bar on my sportster and a 12" z with a 2" riser on my dyna. Both suit me well. Right at shoulder height, which for me makes it easier to handle i curves and what not but is comfortable for highway riding. You kinda just gotta get the feel of what you like the look of and what rides best for you. But with the set up your talking (which has an end rise of around 16") your still well in the comfort zone.
I rode my buddies dyna with 12" apes on 4" rises for about 300 miles. I liked the feel so I'm leaning towards same hieght. I've seen some apes that have the grips turned at a sharp angle down. I don't really care for those I know that Forster lol
I gotcha man, so you've already got the feel for that so Id stick to it. And if you don't like the angled down grips that pretty much made your desicion between your 2 bar choices. The todds are angled down pretty good, it deff lowers your reach a bit. The carlini's will feel better to you more than likely and in my opinion look better. Plus they're high quality. Have a buddy that's running a set on his softtail very nice. I think his are the gangster apes. Either way they have a good reputation. Just a little costly but you get what you pay for.
