For you all with Apes, have any of you riden all day several days in a row, such as very long trips? and tell me honestly, does your arms get tired or your hands go numb or anything that would be a negative for all day riding?
I have ridden with 16" apes years ago, but, i was pretty young back then and I cant remember what it was like, or if at that age i really even gave a crap or thought about it any.
I have been looking at new Bars for my WG for a couple months now and for the life of me i cannot make up my mind between Apes (14") or T Bars in the 8" area. i wantmy hands up higher, but not over my shoulders..this is one of those decisions im having a real hard time deciding on
I have the mini apes on 2" risers - the grips are right at shoulder height for me. I've been a few long trips (400 - 500 mile days; several days in a row) with no problem whatsoever. I find them more cmfortable than lower bars cuz I dont have to bend over or slouch to reach them.
i1m having same problem making my mind up i have a 05 wideglide and am trying to deciede on whether to go with 12 or 14 i am 5`9 and do not want to go over shoulders but also have enough set back to where i can sit straight, trying to fig which are better the cineli, or wild chubby-s
Thanks for the answers, looks like the Apes dont cuase any long ride discomfort...I am really been eyeballing the Carlini 14" Evil Apes..im 5'11" and im hopingmy hands will be just about shoulder hight with those. the others i was looking at was the Wild1 chubby's 8" Tbars or drag bars whatever they call them, with pull back. pretty hard decisions since its so much money, you darn sure better like what ya get. im leaning Apes but could still go either way.
I have the mini-apes with 2 inch risers, on long trips I put a backrest and have not had a problem with the arms and hands. I am 57 years old and they feel great to me.
I had 16" apes on the standard risers on my '04 Wide Glide, since sold. One 300 mile trip into a headwind without a windshield was enough. Beyond sucked. T-bar was on it by the next weekend.

16's on mine. Have done 600 mile day trips and then rode for days when I got there and then rode back home. NC to NY a couple times. No problems, and that was after I had shoulder surgery, I'm 55 and 5'9". Do get a detachable back rest or a full t-bag to lean back on. I have been thinking of going to 14"ers. We'll see.
Edited to add: A windshield do help on those long trips..
