i got em off with the bike on the ground slipping one of those flat ratchet wrenchs up there , if you dont have one of those then lifting the bike and unbolting the shocks like mud said would definately be easiest...
I did the rear tail light relocation thing and didn't put the bike on a jack or mess with the shocks or anything else. Like stated before just reach up in there with a wrench and loosen the bolt. It should just back off with your fingers after that.It might be a little tight getting that long winded bolt out of there, but it'll come out. The hole for the bolt is really pretty big, so there's a bunch of room to wiggle that bolt out of there. If you decide you have to loosen up the shocks make sure you loctite them.
ended up using ratchet wrenches to get the bolts loose and signals off. couldn't for the life of me get the bolts out without dropping the shocks. bought a crafstmen bike lift today, barely eeks under the frame. when the progressive 11" shocks come in, and it goes lower, im afraid ill have pissed waya 90 bucks...
if clearance is an issue, drive the back tire up on a piece of 2x4 wood, then the jack will fit under there.....don't forget, dyna's need the spacers that fit on the frame to clear the oil pan...
