The Dyna is such a great bike b/c it has the big motor, is big enough to ride anywhere for any length of time, doesn't have all those headlights on the front end weighing it down and it's price range is reasonable.

There are guys that do multi-week tours on my the same bike I have (Speed Triple) and they are older than I am (40) so it can be done on a Dyna if properly setup with bags/seat/windscreen. Touring bikes are great, I owned a Road Glide, as well if that's the preference.

hect you can put a stereo and some bags on a dyna easy enough, or even better good klisp ear plugs or a Bluetooth helmet set-up.
I take a couple week long trips every year. I mount my detachables (GPS, saddle bags, backrest, windshield) on my '09 Low Rider and I'm ready to go. If I went to a touring bike, I'd miss the ability to add touring capabilities or strip down for local rides.

I sometimes laugh when I hear how well suited touring bikes are for distance travel. You see, many folks buy the bikes for the prestige factor. Many touring bikes never cross the state line. Others are hauled to events like Sturgis on trailers. Check the number of low mileage touring models in the classifieds and you'll see what I mean.

I find that the "fun factor" is missing on the touring bikes. So much so, that I might as well take my car.

i agree. i went to the touring world and was bored as hell. great bike for long distance. but really, with work and family, when am i realy going for long distance rides.

im very happy with a smaller, lighter, faster bike. motorcycles should have a raw element to them.

i would like a touring bike in the stable, but not as my main squeeze

the four guys I ride with on a consistant basis all ride big touring bikes, one CVO Road Glide, tow Limiteds and a new CVO ultra.....then there is me and my little old Dyna. They always tell me to just buy a touring bike instead of spending money modifing parts to fit the dyna, saying it'll be cheapers. I haven't even broke the $16k mark with all my changes and I have a few more.

I have toured with them a few times and will be again this summer. I figit less then them on the road, a 1000 mile day isn't a problem on my Dyna, maybe I am just used to it.I have riden many a touring bikes and my Dyna feels better on the long stretch and handles better in the twisty mountain passes. Best part, its still 200-300 pounds lighter the the CVO models.

OP, awesome that you keep the Dyna, keep enjoying the riding with it.

I might have saved my marriage, too.

I'm keeping my Dyna. I'm considering a used Road King or BMW RT as a second bike.

I'm on my second Electro Glide. But I ride my FXDXT more. The older(61) I get the easier the lighter bike is to ride.

good call,,, the touring bikes are quite popular,,,street glides especially,, but i think the majority of folks that buy them , buy it as their first bike..;. and its loaded like a car, so they are familiar with that, and the salesman is steering them to buy the most expensive thing he can.... i like them, but would not want to ride one around on the daily as far as touring i go just one up, and as others have said i have all of the stuff to set mine up in under an hour and im ready... my buddy takes his glide but there is no difference other than the hard bags as far as comfort and distance are concerned....
