Street Bob quiet pipes, clearance, bottom-end and footboards?
Greetings,
After owning my first Harley for just over a year (2010 FLUTCU), I bought my buddy's 2006 Street Bob. The SB came with some slip-ons that I immediately pulled and went back to stock. I don't mind stock pipes or so I thought... I guess I'm spoiled on the Ultra to be able to watch the tach and hear the exhaust behind the windscreen. On the Dyna, I have to turn my head to hear the revs. It's kinda funny! The other spoils are footboards and exhaust clearance. Never thought I would say that. I grind my stock Dyan pipes but would love the comfort of footboards.
I know it my be a "perfect storm" but is what I'm looking for possible? Is there a quieter aftermarket full pipe that works with boards? I do realize that cleareance on the footboards might be just as hard as finding exhaust clearance on a 2 to 1. I was thinking something like the SuperTrapp Supermegs but have yet to see someone run that with boards. That pipe looks like it's a little higher than most. A total random thought was the SideShots but from what I've read, they're super loud and you loose a lot of bottom end which is the other reason I'm considering a pipe, intake and tune.
Look into floorboard extension kits. They will bring the floorboards out about an additional 3/4 of an inch. Also, using forward controls vs. mids should get the clearance you need.
Thanks for the input. I thought about trying forwards. I'm for sure comfortable with boards so I thought I'd just go that route. I'll see if I can borrow a foward control bike before I do so.

I just put a SuperTrapp SuperMeg and the HD Dyna floorboards on my 2008 FXDF last week. No conflicts with the boards and depending or how you run the SuperMeg you can make it as quiet or loud as you want.
Funny you mention... because I went to the SuperMeg from the V&H Sideshots. I liked the look back when I put them on, but grew to dislike the noise.

same here, supermeg and floorboards on my 2012 fatbob. mine are the Wyatt's boards which sit a little high for my liking, but have plans on lowering an inch and a half or so. pipe quiet at cruise and idle, but still sounds good when you get on it.
I was planning to use the Harley 50500247 kit. I saw the Wyatt's after doing some searches. I guess those were the options before that kit came out?
