Arlen Ness Big Rotor vs. PM
The final solution for me is the Ness Big Brake with the stock H-D caliper.
I first tried the PM 6-piston caliper with the stock rotor and master cylinder. The PM looked great but was a disappointment on performance. Examining the PM shows the pad sweep width to be smaller than the stock caliper. I went back to the stock caliper set-up. The stock H-D caliper worked better, was stronger than the PM 6-piston.
After seeing the Ness Big Brake rotor, I ordered one and installed it. The Ness Big Brake rotor made a noticeable improvement in stopping power. It is totally adequate for me and some hard-charging riding.
I realize that I could go to twin rotors but I really want to avoid the un-sprung weight of all that hardware hanging on the fork legs. I also prefer the appearance of showing more wheel spokes with a single rotor.
I considered changing my caliper to a Brembo, Nissin or some other caliper but this standard-issue H-D caliper is a honking big unit with big pads and it works well for me on the honking big single rotor.

Mine is about 600.
The unsprung weight minimization is to improve suspension and handling by reducing weight inertia of the wheels.
