Jaybrake-J-Six
Question for you guys:
I just got back from a 5 day 1000 mile ride with a boat load of stops in different towns doing poker runs and memorial rides ect….
I don’t know if you guys remember my break question earlier but I have a new one for you:
I am looking at a new front break setup and found this - http://www.jbrake.com/brakes_extreme_ultra.html
Wondering if anyone has experience with these guys or can you recommend another brand for me.
What I am trying to accomplish is a whole new setup…I will be getting a new caliper and rotor and a new line while I’m at it.
I only use my front break (I’m not looking to get told how stupid that is I already know) between the way I have to ride (2 abreast and close as **** to the guy in front of me) and the few emergency stops I had to make for the guys with mechanical problems I realized that my setup is under-performing. I need a massive amount of stopping power (6’7” 350lbs).
Anyone have any experience with ventilated discs???? I think that’s part of my problem…When my breaks start to heat up they start to perform poorly…
Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

I run a PM 6 piston caliper with Lyndall pads and a steel braided line. I am a front brake guy too. Rear brakes are for emergency's only in my opinion. I could not imagine riding with this bike with any less stopping power than I have already. The compairson to the brakes on my wife's sportster (stock 4 piston caliper) reminds me whay a lot fo people use front and rear brakes on harley's. The stock brakes are much less powerful than my setup. I have to use both brakes to stop as quickly as I do on my softail lwith the Pm caliper.
On a low the contrast cut PM caliper really looks great. I actually just installed one yesterday on a buddies lo. I think changing caliper necessitates teh need for a steel braided line as well as it holds a higher pressure.
As far as rotors, a 2 piece rotor will not get nearly as hot as a 1 piece rotor. Pm makes great rotors as does Lyndall. One day I'll get some but the money is just not there right now.
One of the reasons your brakes are most likely fading when they get hot is the stock rubber brake lines. The other is most likely the rotor as you said. Lookigna t your bike now I realize you do not ahve stock brake lines. What lines are you running.
I can get Jaybrake and PM stuff, but prefer the Pm stuff.
Pm or email me if you want pricing or you can all us at the shop. Here is the caliper we put on my buddies bike yesterday.

Drew, can you elaborate on the PM vs. Jaybrake preference? Is it the quality? I too like the look of the Jaybrake (like HHI, no logos), but I don't want to purchase an inferior product.
I have never run a Jaybrake so I really cannot say how it performs. I checked stock and we are out of stock on their black caliper until 12/30 as well. I have not read anything bad about them. But, i am a ***** for PM stuff.

I have been running the Jaybrake J-Six Ultra for about two months now..
About 600 miles.... Love it.
Really good feel and feedback. Don't think you''ll be disappointed in it,
super solid.. I got the black powder coat... very easy replacement
for the OEM... simply take off the HD and slap on the Jaybrake, no
additional parts needed.

If you want massive stopping power you can't beat a double 320mm rotor and a Brembo master/caliper setup.
Add all of the pistons you want to a tiny little rotor and you still don't get much.
Howard Messner at motorcyclemetal.com can help you out with this. He understands real performance brakes and suspension as applied to Harley Davidson.
