Last question, I promise!
Would it have worked without removing the bends? Or did you need the extra height?

Or does "pressing the s out of it" mean flattening it down??

THANKS,

I am waiting to hear as well. It needs the extra height for the shift rod to clear the primary. Maybe taking out the bends is just enough.

Here are some pics. The first pic is one of my old shift levers on the right and the new lever on the right attached (straightened out shifter). The new shifterlever when still in the bent "S" shape sits about 1/2 or so lower and the shift rod would be sitting on the primary and barely makes contact with the very top of the lever. So yes, it does need to be strainghtened out to work. The second pic should how close the the rod is to the primary, maintains this gap when shifting, so possible contact is not an issue.

It looks like a good approach and was wondering if you used the taller inner primary shift lever or the stock shorter lever. Also is there any problems with the shifting or finding neutral as mentioned on other applications.

The taller one is the stock height one that comes with the foot boards, the shorter one is the one I use, It's the modified one that I straightened out, it has the dual spline for the heel toe setup. I set both the levers down as far as I could get them when shifting, can't get my toes under them (by choice). No issues shifting at all, very smooth and as for finding neutral, it seems easier the before. Maybe I just got lucky.

I was asking about the inner primary lever in the back. Was wanting to know if that one was the stock shorter lever from a mid control bike or the taller lever from the forward control models, since your bike says its a Street Bob I would assume you have the taller lever back there which would also give more clearance.

Gotcha now, sorry, I want to say it's the taller one, i think I had it changed when I had the primary pulled. Wish I could tell you for sure. I'll try to get a pic and post it if that helps.

Default Switchback Heel-Toe Shifter Option

I like my Switchback, but I had foot surgery on my shifter toe and have been desperate to find a shifter. I found a company that makes one, but they are having a hard time getting it into production. Maybe if everyone will contact them they will get it ready sooner. Here is the link: http://www.eglidegoodies.com/id173.html
