Default Hello Dyna Owners

Just got a new 2014 Low Rider.silver/black Holdover from 2014, got a screamin' deal.Love the bike. I also have a 95 evo bagger with 75K miles on her.
I do the great majority of my own service and repair work.
I have a question and I apologize if this has been beat to death previously:
Do I really need to modify my bike? I am satisfied with the power and sound of the bike so far. Only problem is a slight surge under some situations.
Dealer says I need a stage 1 download even if I dont change the air cleaner or pipes. Is he right or just trying to sell a 150.00 service?
He says it will help the bike run cooler and improve driveability.
If it was a carbed bike I would just install a larger pilot jet and do the mixture screw mod and be done with it. Not so easy with efi. Progress.......
Thanks in advance
Bill

Nice bike. Absolutely no need to modify it if you like it as is. There are tunes for stock bike that do improve how they run from what I hear, never tried it myself.

congratulations, you will really love the LR, I have almost 10K miles on mine since last July.
I did some changes on mine, for the motor, installed a set of FL-VIEDs to help the hot running factory lean condition, also de catted the stock exhaust, added an S&S stealth AC, has plenty of power for me riding double a lot.
latest change was progressive 444 12.5" shocks, also have a set of ricor intiminators, havn't had time to install yet.
as for the 1000 mile service, if you are a good self wrencher, save some dough and perform it yourself. also had to install a sundowner seat for my wife, but if you ride only solo, the stock is pretty good. also post some pics on the 2014 low rider forum.

Interesting about the de-catted exhaust. How did you do this. Did you cut open the cat or drill it out with a coring bit? I may want to do that for reduction of heat. I noticed that the o2 sensors are upstream of the cat so it will not affect computer. Cant really do that on cars without serious revision of tuning because most have a sensor post-cat.
Thanks
Bill

To be a member of this forum, you must modify the hell out of your bike... OR you could just ride it... Congrats on the LR.

Do not modify the bike. It will become an addiction, eventually leading to loss of family, friends and tons of cash. But we'll still be here for ya.
Sounds like you have a lean surge, typical for stock set up. It may be easy to fix with one of the XIED versions. Just an in line resistor that fools the ECM into adding more fuel in that range. Easy to install, about $100, and might just do the trick.
Check nightrider.com for those.

I think the satisfaction of power will soon fade. The 103 is a fantastic motor but it could be fantastic'er. Good luck and hope your will power holds out.

I think after I get my seating situated, I'm buying a power vision and then will look at exhaust/engine mods as winters come and go.
