Default Easy Brackets on FXDXT Hardware?

So I am commuting this upcoming fall and since my T Sport is my only mode of wheels, I am wanting to put some locking bags on it and leave the OEM bags at home. Does anybody have any experience with putting the easy brackets on T sport hardware? I don't want to change the hardware out, bc for the most part, my t sport is all stock (minus some slip ons and a sissy bar) and I would like to be able to keep it that way by just using the easy brackets. From the pictures it looks to be the same, slide the bracket on and lock it. What about with the Easy Brackets and Hard Bags? Does anyone have experience mounting those together?

Thanks!

I have an original 2001 FXDXT that came with those bags, and no, the docking points for the t-Sport bags won't work with easy brackets. They are not even close to the same. If you want to keep those docking points, your best bet would be to try and find a set of the original FXDXT bag frames and mount some different bags on them. The price of those bags has come down a lot in the last two years, so you might be able to find a damaged pair for cheap.

Keep ridin'

No, we have our own mounting system that is different. We have been making the leather version for over a year (but we still don't have them on our website). The cordura material we use is waterproof, but water can still get in through the zippers if you don't cover them up with the zipper flap very well. Otherwise, my buddy JD at JD's Custom Fabrication in Bakersfield, CA has someone making copies of the original FXDXT rain covers and is selling them for $60 if I remember right.

Leatherpro has the right idea about finding some cheap/beat OEM bags.

Or you can sell your OEM and buy some Leatherpro replica bags. I was one of the original people to preorder, with confidence, from him years ago and they were amazing. I will be buying a 2nd set for my new fxdxt.

One last option, keep using your oem bags. I think I saw a DIY locking kit.

I have had Easy Brackets mounted to hard bags. They are easy to mount, easy to dismount. They do, however, rattle around a bit. There is, at least on mine; and others will tell you otherwise; a lot of play between the bike and the bracket. I used them to commute, worked well. The excess play caused the bags to have some stress cracks throughout them. Didn't bother me, but...

I'd suggest some Dyna / Sporty hard bags or Defenders of you want a solid mounted hard bag. You won't be able to pop them off in a hurry, but they are great bags!

Defenders for sale, here... http://monterey.craigslist.org/mpo/5101895642.html
