I had mine break on my road king. I don't remember what it cost but it was expesive. They have to take the primary off and the swing arm off to replace the belt so there is a good bit of labor included.
I found my reciept for the belt repair.
Belt cost $215.00
Labor cost 4 hours at whatever you dealer charges
primary gasket cost $27.00
o ring cost $1.57
Yea, if you pay someone to do the repair.....it can be very expensive.
The job it self does not require any special tools and the wheel and swing arm does not require removal. If you have quality and a decent amount of tools with some skill. Then you can do it yourself.....along with help from a manual.
Outerprimary cover, primary chain sprockets/clutch, inner primary, outter section of frame need to be removed. That is pretty much it. Like I said earlier...the swingarm does not need removal.
