Default Please help possible damage?

I'm hope this is all a coincidence...... I was having a slight wobble in the front of my bike for sometimes now. Friday night I was out and 1/2 (75 miles) through the trip the wobble was really bad, to the point of my hands being fatigued. Today I noticed the weights are off the front wheel but the backing was there. I used a front tire lifter and yes the front was out of balance, but not to bad.

Here come my issue. I jacked the bike up on a motorcycle lift (sears yellow) I checked the placement and it all looked ok. It was stable and seemed to be on the frame rails. I removed the front wheel, did a balance on it and that came out perfect. I reinstalled the wheel and lowered the bike.

Started the bike was backing it out and 4 feet later it would not move back anymore. I went forward just fine back again same thing. I figured it was the caliber which it was not. Jacked the bike up all looked great. Finally got the bike backed up. I started going and started to hear like a grinding noise and a really bad shake at 10 MPH, went 1 mile. Went home jacked it up all looked great. Tried it again and it was wobbling so bad and the grinding seemed to come and go, again 1 mile. When I inspected the rear, the tire really didn't have wobble to it, that bad.

I am going to include pictures of what I am seeing, medal shavings on the spacers on the belt side.

Is this a jacking error or a coincidence that something else happened? I have a 2010 FXDC 13,000 miles

Possible wheel or pulley bearings have gone south.

Rusty you think it's just a coincidence and not a jacking problem. I had sportsters and a low rider and never had to worry about jacking but I am reading that Dyna you can have problems. Someone was saying bending so flange arrow looking thing? I don't know just worried now

I would say Rusty is in the right area. If you have metal shavings, there's definitely wear.

I would bet the bearings are shot. Did you tighten the pinch bolts first. then the axle. Then loosen the pinch bolts to relieve the pressure on the axle. Then tighten the pinch bolts back up? If not then you have a problem

Never heard of jacking causing issues like this. Just be sure that when placing the jack that the contact points do not rest on anything other than the frame or heavy metal part like the tranny or engine. Definitely do not position on brake lines or thin metal brackets.
What you have is metal shavings which means to me that something is grinding away at something else.

My guess is also wheel bearing issue. jack it up and remove the wheel again. turn the bearing with a finger if it doesn,t turn freely or offers anything but smooth unresisted function change the bearings, and make sure you check the axle for wear grooves. The smallest grove can re-damage your new bearings.

First question for you is how mechanically inclined are you? The shavings are definitely a problem. Something is not lined up properly or the bearings are gone. Take the wheel off the bike and inspect everything. You will find the problem or take it on a trailer to a mechanic.

The pictures look to be the rear belt side of the bike. Improper jacking may cause some issues with dynas, but not this. Looks like you have had a bad wheel bearing for quite a while. I wouldn't put another mile on it until you pull that wheel and check them out. Hopefully you can salvage your hub at this point.
